Collagraphic print on watercolour paper using black intaglio ink & green acrylic paint

This work was created during Luke’s stay at the BigCi Residency. Part of Luke’s team participated in a small bushwalk on the property, lead by Yuri Bolotin. We were told about the local flora and edible plants on the property, including the Native Sour Currant which inspired this piece.

The plate was cut into these organic bubble shapes to mimic the round currants, and their sour taste inspired Luke’s use of shape and line within the work. The artist chose to incorporate green paint into the printing process due to the colour of the currants.
