Luke has developed an understanding of colour by associating them with Skittles and their corresponding flavours. He links the taste with the colour of these lollies – e.g.
Yellow = bright, zesty, lemon

This painting is an early example of Luke using a paintbrush to create strokes of colour. Here he is practicing painting the shapes of letters and words, using bright colours that you’d expect to find in a packet of Skittles.
