This work features in the IKOUII book ‘Inside Their Studio’, and was purchased through Luke’s first solo exhibition - A Guide Through Abstraction.

This is Luke’s first official cane painting artwork on canvas. It was created using his cane as the paintbrush - with half a tennis ball fitted to the bottom and dipped in paint. Luke developed a unique method of mark-making, his signature “push and pull” style of painting. Luke’s cane - an extension of his person - is an integral part of his day-to-day, and enables him to navigate through life more easily. Here Luke's movements are reflected and made permanently visible through the application of paint on canvas. You can trace Luke's movements - the paths painted by his cane - all throughout the painting.

This painting consists of 4 colours. They are inspired by the colours of the earth & sky. Red Ochre, Yellow Ochre, Pale Blue and White. These 4 colours have been repeated over the canvas in consecutive layers.
